Attorney Scott Carruthers is shareholder and Managing Partner at Ben Crump Law, where he focuses on cases involving personal injury, class action, and mass tort law. In addition to his legal expertise, Mr. Carruthers brings a wealth of experience in the political and legislative arena after holding senior positions at the Florida Chamber of Commerce and the Office of Treasurer and Insurance Commissioner for the State of Florida.
Mr. Carruthers has spent much of his career as a strong leader both inside and outside the courtroom. Before establishing his own practice in 2010, he served for more than 20 years as executive director of the Florida Justice Association, one of the largest and most successful trial lawyer associations in America. While serving in this role, he received four President’s Awards and the B.J. Masterson Award for Professionalism. He was also named National Trial Lawyer Executive of the Year in 2001 by the American Association for Justice. Other leadership positions held by Mr. Carruthers include serving as an officer and executive committee member with the National Association of Trial Lawyer Executives.
Throughout his almost 40-year career, Mr. Carruthers has been a passionate advocate seeking justice for the marginalized.
Mr. Carruthers earned his juris doctor from the Florida State University College of Law in 1982, and graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from The American University.
