Medical records reveal that Alegend suffered compression of the brain and other significant injuries which led to her death
MEMPHIS, Tenn. –– Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump and the family of Alegend Jones will hold a news conference on Thursday at 8 am CT to provide an update on the cause of death of Alegend Jones. Alegend’s injuries corroborate the details of the violent incident that was described to her mother.
Alegend Jones, a 17-year-old Black teen, lost her life after an incident at Youth Villages, a national group home that deals with at-risk youth. Witnesses state that Alegend was brutally assaulted, battered, and choked before her transport to Methodist Germantown Hospital, where she died. The Tennessee Department of Children’s Services (DCS) is investigating the death. Attorney Crump also represents Latrice and Lawrence Johnson, two additional victims from Youth Villages.
