Attorney Marvin Agumagu joined Ben Crump Law in 2025 as an Associate Attorney, where he supports client advocacy across civil rights and public-interest matters. As a licensed Texas attorney from Houston and a certified mediator, Attorney Agumagu brings a multi-disciplinary background spanning government relations, higher-education law, and public affairs to advance investigations, discovery, and strategic stakeholder engagement on behalf of clients. His lifelong passion for public service makes him an ideal advocate at Ben Crump Law, where the pursuit of justice and protection of civil rights are core to the firm’s mission.
Attorney Agumagu began his career in public service in 2014, working with U.S. House Representative Sheila Jackson Lee before transitioning to Houston City Council Member Larry V. Green’s office, and later joining the administration of Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner. In these roles, he developed seven years of government relations experience at the intersection of law, policy, and civic engagement.
He later worked at Virginia Union University in dual roles as Deputy Legal Officer and Director of Government Relations, where he managed EEOC responses and investigations, contract review, legislative strategy, appropriations research, and multi-jurisdictional partnerships with city, state, and federal stakeholders. During his tenure, he also helped secure a historic $10 million in appropriations funding from the Virginia General Assembly and increased the amount of federal appropriations in the form of grants and other resources for students.
Attorney Agumagu’s academic journey reflects his commitment to both legal scholarship and public service. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, his Juris Doctor from Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas, and his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Business and Trade Law from American University Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C.
Attorney Agumagu is a member of the State Bar of Texas, admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and affiliated with the National Bar Association, the Houston Bar Association, and several Nigerian professional organizations in Houston. Attorney Agumagu is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
