At the heart of Ben Crump Law is the push for community service, social justice, and equality. That’s why we developed the Ben Crump Community Leadership Scholarship. This year, recent East Stroudsburg University graduate Brandon Teel takes home the $2,500 award.
Teel’s winning essay highlighted his work on campus at ESU, including memberships in various student organizations. “I was involved with the Student Government, Black Student Union, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Cultural Greek Council, Men of Cultural Alliance, and the NAACP,” he wrote.
By working for and with these organizations, Teel was able to improve his already nascent leadership skills and better his local community.
Brandon Teel and the ENOUGH Initiative
One of the big ways in which Teel has influenced his community is through the ENOUGH initiative. It’s a campaign he started with Pennsylvania State Senator Art Haywood to promote equality and racial justice throughout PA higher education.
“ENOUGH,” wrote Teel, “stands for:
- End Racial Harassment and Speech
- Nurture and Retain Students of Color
- Organize an Incident Reporting System
- Unveil Mandatory Diversity Training
- Generate More Mental Health Resources
- Hire More Faculty and Staff of Color.”
As a result, the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) Board of Governors has committed to making historic progress on the racial justice front.

Teel’s Future Plans
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in sports management from ESU, Teel is now pursuing his master’s degree at West Chester University of PA. There, he is majoring in public administration and plans to get a graduate certificate in sport management and athletics.
“My future goals are to pursue a career working alongside high school athletic directors to mentor the upcoming generation through sports,” he told Ben Crump representatives.
Ben Crump Law is proud to award Brandon Teel with our Community Leadership Scholarship, and we wish him the best of luck in achieving his future goals.
