DETROIT, Mich. (March 19, 2026) – Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump, Attorney Ven Johnson, and the family of Da’Quain Johnson will hold a virtual news conference Friday to announce legal representation and demand justice following Johnson’s fatal police shooting.
Da’Quain Johnson, a 32-year-old father of three, was shot on February 18, 2026, after an encounter with Grand Rapids police. According to reports and video accounts, Johnson was on the ground and being restrained by a police K9 when an officer fired multiple shots at close range. He died the following day from his injuries. While police claim Johnson posed a threat, the family disputes that account, raising concerns about the use of force.
