ORLANDO, Fla. (July 8, 2026) –– Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump and the family of Milagros “Millie” Ortiz will hold a news conference to address developments in the death of the 92-year-old great-grandmother.
The family and legal team will address the State Attorney’s decision to decline criminal charges, questions surrounding responsibility for Ortiz’s death, and liability concerns related to documented lighting maintenance issues involving the officer’s patrol vehicle. Ortiz died after a marked Orlando police cruiser allegedly ran a red light and crashed into the vehicle in which she was riding in the early morning hours of Jan. 18, 2026.
