The family and legal team will hold a Monday news conference
DeMotte, Ind. –– Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump, attorney Stephen M. Wagner of Wagner Reese, and the family of Rhyker Earl will hold a Monday news conference to demand justice for the 26-year-old father of two who tragically died after police allegedly used excessive force during a medical emergency.
Rhyker Earl experienced two seizures on September 8, 2024, prompting his grandmother to call 911. When police and EMTs arrived, the situation escalated, leading to the use of excessive force by law enforcement. Earl, still recovering from the seizures, was restrained by police, handcuffed, and pinned face-down as he cried “I can’t breathe.” He died two days later in the hospital. Attorneys and the family are calling for justice and the immediate release of body cam footage.
