SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump has issued the following statement regarding a judge’s decision to hold Sangamon County Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Grayson in custody without bail. Grayson allegedly shot Sonya Massey in the face, killing her, on July 6. Massey, a 36-year-old unarmed woman, had called the police to report a suspected intruder in her home.
Grayson has been indicted and charged on five counts, including three counts of first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and official misconduct.
