TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Oct. 28, 2026) — Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump has been retained to represent LeRoy Vann, a FedEx delivery driver who says he was assaulted and threatened while picking up a package from a Tallahassee business.
Vann said he was completing a scheduled pickup at a business on Orange Avenue when a man followed him outside, headbutted him twice, and repeatedly tried to wrestle the package from his hands. Vann said the man threatened to shoot him. Vann suffered cuts to his ankle and thigh.
The man has been identified in reports as Travis Wade Sparkman, owner of T Spark Enterprises LLC. Leon County booking records show Sparkman was arrested in 2004 on a misdemeanor assault charge. Bystanders recorded the encounter, and the video has since circulated widely on social media. Vann said police responded but made no arrest, and his report was still not available after he contacted police on two consecutive days.
Attorney Crump issued the following statement:
“What happened to LeRoy Vann is absolutely appalling. This man was simply doing his job when he was assaulted and threatened. He could have lost his life over a package pickup. Yet despite everything, LeRoy is still waiting for answers from law enforcement. LeRoy deserves to know that his life and safety are being taken seriously. We intend to fight for the answers and the accountability he deserves.”
