Crump and the family will hold a Tuesday news conference
MIAMI, Fla. –– Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump and co-counsel Larry Handfield have been retained by Donald Armstrong, a man who was tased twice and shot six times by Miami Police on March 7, leaving him paralyzed at this time.Armstrong was suffering from a mental health episode when police were called to the residence. Bystander video shows Armstrong near the entrance of the residence, holding what police allege was a sharp object. In the video, Armstrong lifts up his shirt to show he is not carrying a firearm when he is tased twice causing him to fall forward, at which point police shoot at him at least nine times. Several of the shots were fired after Armstrong was on the ground, clearly indicating excessive force by the officers. To cover up their excessive force, police charged Armstrong with aggravated assault, which the video does not substantiate.
The legal team and the family will hold a news conference demanding that these bogus charges be dropped on Tuesday, immediately following Armstrong’s 9 am ET arraignment for aggravated assault on police.
