NEW YORK (Nov. 6, 2026) – Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump has been retained by the family of Javits Frimpong, a 15-year-old Bronx student who was shot and killed on Oct. 29 while walking to school.
Javits moved to the Bronx from Ghana last year to live with his father. On the morning of Oct. 29, he was shot in the Claremont section of the Bronx, a few blocks from his school, and later died at St. Barnabas Hospital. Police have said they are investigating several possible motives and have not publicly identified anyone in connection with the shooting.
Attorney Crump issued the following statement:
“Javits was a 15-year-old boy walking to school, something children across this country do every morning. He came here from Ghana a year ago dreaming of becoming a doctor, and he deserved to make that walk safely, like every child does, no matter where they come from. We will stand with Javits’ family every step of the way until the people responsible are held accountable and his family has the answers they deserve.”
