AVOYELLES PARISH, La. –– Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump has been retained by the family of Jerome Stevenson, an inmate at Avoyelles Parish DC-1 facility who lost his life after an altercation with two corrections deputies and an incarcerated offender that occurred on Nov. 4.
Arrest warrants have been issued for two corrections deputies and one incarcerated offender following an investigation into Stevenson’s death. John Contrell Williams was arrested for second-degree murder. Byron Oneal White was arrested for malfeasance in office. Frank Overbey III was arrested for principal to second-degree murder.
