NEW YORK, NY –– Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorneys Ben Crump, Adam Levitt, and Hassan Zavareei will hold a Thursday news conference to discuss the filing of a lawsuit on behalf of Black, Latino, and Native American plaintiffs who sought home loans with defendant Navy Federal Credit Union.
The complaint will reveal that according to Navy Federal’s own data, it denied African American home loan applications at a rate of 52%, Latino home loan applications at a rate of 44%, and White applicants at a rate of just 23%. The complaint also describes how Navy Federal approved a higher percentage of applications from White borrowers making less than $62,000 a year, than it did from Black borrowers making $140,000 or more per year.
Navy Federal’s customer base primarily consists of active-duty military, military families, and veterans, meaning that when Navy Federal discriminates, it’s the current and former members of the armed forces—and their families—who are harmed.
For media who cannot attend in person, the news conference will also be streamed live on Attorney Ben Crump’s Instagram @attorneycrump.
