Suit alleges a South Side residential facility and its security firm ignored repeated warning signs while a night supervisor, now a convicted felon, abused a vulnerable youth in DCFS custody
CHICAGO (June 17, 2026) — Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump will join Yadira Escamilla and co-counsel Levin & Perconti at a Thursday news conference. They will announce a lawsuit against Aunt Martha’s Health and Wellness, Inc. and A-Alert Security Services, Inc., over the repeated sexual abuse of Escamilla as a teenage girl placed in their care as a ward of the state.
According to the lawsuit, Escamilla was a minor in DCFS custody at Aunt Martha’s Integrated Care Center when Trulon Henry, an overnight supervisor at the facility, groomed and sexually assaulted her over a period of months. The suit alleges Henry had a prior felony conviction for armed robbery and had served roughly five years in prison before Aunt Martha’s hired him to supervise vulnerable youth. It further alleges the facility and its security contractor failed to act on repeated warning signs and stripped Escamilla of the supervision and protection they were required to provide. In March 2026, a Cook County jury convicted Henry of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and additional felony sex offenses involving youth at the facility.
