Stevenson died in custody at the Avoyelles Parish Detention Center
AVOYELLES PARISH, La. –– Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump will hold a Friday news conference to announce new evidence regarding the death of Jerome Stevenson. Stevenson was an inmate at the Avoyelles Parish DC-1 facility who lost his life after an altercation with two corrections deputies and an incarcerated offender on Nov. 4.
The evidence suggests the incident that led to Stevenson’s death was premeditated and involved high-ranking officials. Arrest warrants have been issued for two corrections deputies and one incarcerated offender following an investigation into Stevenson’s death. John Contrell Williams was arrested for second-degree murder. Byron Oneal White was arrested for malfeasance in office. Frank Overbey III was arrested for principal to second-degree murder.
