NEW YORK, N.Y. –– Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump will host a news conference on Friday, February 21, on the 60th anniversary of Malcolm X’s death, to call for the declassification of documents in the case.
Malcolm X was assassinated on February 21, 1965, at age 39 while speaking at the Audubon Ballroom in New York City. He was shot a total of 21 times by a group of men in front of his wife and daughters.
In Nov. 2024, Attorney Crump filed a lawsuit against multiple government and law enforcement agencies in light of new evidence that was released the same year. The lawsuit alleges that various government agencies and individuals, including the FBI, CIA, and NYPD, played a role in the conspiracy leading to Malcolm X’s assassination and engaged in a decades-long cover-up that deprived his family of justice. The suit seeks accountability for the harm caused by the alleged unlawful and unconstitutional actions of these agencies and individuals
