MEMPHIS, Tenn. –– Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump will hold a news conference to address Gershun Freeman’s wrongful in-custody death and call on a Department of Justice investigation into the circumstances of it. He will be joined by the Freeman family and others who have wrongfully lost loved ones in Shelby County Jail.
Gershun Freeman suffered an in-custody death in Shelby County Jail after an altercation with officers. He was found to have multiple bruises and deep cuts when he died. Freeman’s manner of death was listed as a homicide.
