SENATOBIA, Miss. (June 20, 2026) –– Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump and Attorney Van Turner will join the family of Kohen Wiley at a news conference and rally Monday. They will continue to demand full transparency from investigators and will announce an independent autopsy into the 1-year-old’s death.
Kohen Wiley was fatally shot June 14 while riding in a vehicle outside a Walmart in Senatobia, Mississippi, where officers had responded to a shoplifting call. According to the family, a woman who was with Kohen’s mother was accused of shoplifting diapers. She has not been charged. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation says an officer opened fire during the encounter. Kohen, 1, died from his injuries.
