PALM BAY, Fla. – Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump, co-counsel LaFonda Middleton, and the family of Thomas Farley will hold a Wednesday news conference to speak on the urgent need for transparency and justice in this case. Farley’s family and their attorneys will call for accountability from the Palm Bay Police Department and charges to be filed against the officer who tased Farley.
On June 28, 2024, five men fled a Circle K gas station when they were approached by a Palm Bay police officer. Thomas Farley was one of the men who attempted to flee. Officer Derrick Mitchell unlawfully deployed a taser while Farley was climbing a fence causing him to fall. This action left Farley paralyzed from the neck down.
