Lawsuit names Dollar General and the parents of the shooter as defendants
JACKSONVILLE, Fl. — Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump and co-counsel Michael Haggard will hold a Tuesday news conference to announce the filing of a lawsuit on behalf of family members of the three victims who were fatally shot and killed by the racially-motivated shooter in a Jacksonville Dollar General near Edward Waters University, the local HBCU. The lawsuit names the Dollar General and the parents of the shooter as defendants.
On August 26, 2023, the racially motivated hate crime involved an assailant shooting and killing three Black people in a Dollar General store in Jacksonville, Florida. This event occurred after the assailant made his way to Edward Waters University but was turned away by the campus police. The three victims identified are Jerrald Gallion (29), Anolt Joseph “A.J.” Laguerre Jr. (19), and Angela Carr (52).
