CHARLOTTE, N.C. (October 29, 2025) –– Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump and Attorney Sue-Ann Robinson have released the following statement on the anniversary of the death of Shanquella Robinson.
Robinson was killed while vacationing in Mexico in October 2022. According to Mexican prosecutors, one of Robinson’s travel mates was identified as the direct aggressor in her death. Initially, her friends claimed her cause of death was alcohol poisoning, but an autopsy from Mexican authorities later revealed it was caused by “severe spinal cord injury and atlas luxation.”
As of late 2024, Robinson’s family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against her six travel companions, seeking accountability. The lawsuit, filed on the second anniversary of her death, alleges battery, negligence, and conspiracy against the travel companions, referred to as the “Cabo Six.”
Attorneys released the following statement:
“Three years have passed since Shanquella’s life was taken, yet her family still waits for justice. The fact that no criminal charges have been brought in the United States is not only heartbreaking but unacceptable. Shanquella’s loved ones have endured three years of silence, delays, and denials, and still they stand, demanding the accountability their daughter deserves.
“We continue to call on the United States to do what is right, for the FBI to release information on this case so that Shanquella’s family might have some sense of closure. Shanquella’s life mattered, and her legacy will continue to drive the fight for truth, transparency, and justice.”
