CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 16, 2026) – Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump, who represents the family of Dominique Moody, issued the following statement after reports that Mecklenburg County’s child welfare leadership has changed following public scrutiny related to Dominique’s death:
“We hope this leadership change marks a turning point in Dominique Moody’s case. Dominique was a little girl who deserved protection, and her family deserves answers. For months, officials have resisted full transparency and limited access to records that could explain what agencies knew and when, and what actions were taken or not taken before Dominique died. We are calling on county leadership to fully cooperate, release the records the public is entitled to, and provide Dominique’s family with meaningful access to the information they need to pursue accountability. Transparency is not optional when a child’s life is lost.”
