FARMERVILLE, La. –– Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump, the family of Ronald Greene, and the parents of Tyre Nichols will hold a news conference on Wednesday, Sept. 27, calling for federal civil rights charges in the killing of Ronald Greene. Family of Tyre Nichols will call on the Department of Justice to charge the white officers who beat Ronald Greene to death just as they charged the Black officers who beat Tyre Nichols to death.
Greene died following a 2019 arrest, in which five Louisiana law enforcement officers beat, stunned, and dragged him while his ankles were in shackles. One officer was seen in body camera footage putting his foot on Greene’s back and forcing him to the ground, where he laid face-down in the dirt for more than nine minutes and multiple officers could be seen punching him. Officers involved in the arrest have faced state charges ranging from negligent homicide to malfeasance.
