BALTIMORE, Md. –– Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of the National Action Network (NAN), will deliver the eulogy for Lawrence Lacks Sr., the last living son of Henrietta Lacks.
After a decades-long fight, Lawrence Lacks Sr. died three weeks after the family earned historic justice for Lawrence’s mother on August 1st, which would have been her 103rd birthday. Henrietta’s cells, now commonly known as the HeLa cell line using the first letters of her first and last names, became the first human cells successfully cloned, and have since been used continually for research that has touched nearly every realm of medicine.
Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump will deliver a call for justice for Lawrence, Henrietta, and their surviving family, as they continue the journey to justice for her.
